Megumi Faith Mallari

Understanding Vulnerabilities Virtually: Oral narrative research on a Syrian refugee amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Megumi Faith Mallari highlights her unique experience as a student researcher in exploring the story of Syrian refugee, Yassar, in the backdrop of the pandemic.

The article focused on Mallari’s perspective, discussing what made her status as student researcher advantageous in conducting the research, to her approach during the interview, to how the pandemic posed a unique challenge, and how this experience has become an eye opener on the purpose of conducting research on marginalized communities.

Ayano Soma

Communications Specialist

Through the perspective of a senpai researcher in a student-led project, Ayano Soma exhibits her experience overseeing the progress of students in exploring the story of a narrator from a major African country. The article highlights the significance of how the positionality of the students is shaped by the positionality of the narrator, demonstrating the complexity of the positioning and dynamic students and narrators should have for a successful interview. The journey of these student researchers eventually blossoming into flourished researchers through the recognition and shift in power dynamic truly captures their stories.
